Me before You - Jojo Moyes

I know this book has been out for awhile now and there’s already a movie about it. I was one of those people who refused to watch the movie until I read the book (maybe it’s just me being weird) but yea.. I believe a book gives you the imaginary of a particular situation way better than a scene in the movie. Lemme stop blabbering and get started with the review ;

          This book… Where do I even begin? I was so sucked into the book than I drop everything I was doing just so that I would know how it ended. Instead of a conventional romance plot, this was something different. Emotionally I was all over the place; Jojo Moyes had me on an emotional roller coaster. I cried, I laughed, I was frustrated, and I was literally on the edge of my chair constantly. Even though this book was commercial as a romance genre but the plot is way more than focused on life and what one would do when they’re pushed to the limits.

          If you didn’t know, the plot is about Lou who badly needs a job with one experience in anything other than working at a cafĂ©. Will who needs a carer because he’s paralyzed after an accident. Lou ends up taking the job, from not knowing what to do, she grew into someone very special for Will. She knew him better than anyone, she made him look forward to each other with her crazy ideas.

          I think a lot of people felt the emotions in this plot because it was very close to reality. Being a medical student myself, I know and have dealt with spinal cord injury patients. I know how unmotivated they can get but at the same I’ve seen how independent they could be if the correct support was given. So least to say, this book felt very close to my heart.

          So yeah, do I think you should check out this book? Hell yeah! I can’t wait to get my hands on the sequence and unfold what happens.

Guilty Pleasure

          Let me start by saying, long dreaded book usually lose its spark somewhere along the line. But Tasmina Perry made 675 pages fascinating! As Daily Express stated ‘A bonkbuster in the grand tradition of the genre’. This book screamed SEXY throughout, getting an exclusive inside of the glamorous fashion world right from the comfort of your bed/couch. Just as the name implies, the plot was filled with lies, secrets, betrayal and guilt. The characters were ambitious and sensational.

          As the story goes, Saul Milford leaves behind the ownership of Milford (one of Europe’s oldest and prestigious luxury goods company). His niece, the famous magazine editor, Cassandra thought she’d inherit everything. Saul’s spiteful brother, Roger thought the company would be his after being part of the business for years. But the plot took a twist when Emma Bailey, Saul’s ambitious niece become heir to Milford.

          Even though Milford was once very successful but now it’s almost close to nothing. The company hasn’t created anything in years. Emma has no choice but to learn the business from scratch and build it up. Along the way, Emma had to face various lies and betrayals from people she called family. Anyone and everyone around her had a motive that is waiting to be revealed.

          The plot revolves around Emma trying to make Milford as prestigious as it used to be while others sabotage her in various ways. Relationships and sex makes the book even hotter. Until the last couple of chapters, Tasmina would have you second guessing everyone which made the book such a page turner.
